What got me interested in Electronics as a Kid

When I was a kid of around age 3, one of my uncle use to make small electronic toys for me like a small car, whose body was made from thermocol and a motor was directly connected to wheel shaft which was made from pen refill, by rubber band. He also use to demonstrate how to connect a motor or led bulb to a battery. Before I learned alphabets, I knew how to connect a motor or bulb to a battery. This is what got my interest in Electronics in the very first place.
Since then all the gifts and toys I used to receive, I always had a curiosity to open them up and see how they work, thus none of them lasted for long.
I made my first remote control car at the age of 8 and conceptualize my first bot design to massage my mother’s leg at the age of 9, as she used to have a lot of leg pains. At the same age I made something like Morse code device for my class, so that we can chat in between the class without disturbing anyone.
I fell in love with all this stuff and made many projects throughout my school life, a remote controlled ship at age 12, simple security alarm system for my room, night vision, power bank, etc.
As I grew up my projects started getting mature.
When I was in class 9, one of my friend showed me a 5.1ch surround music system in his house, and I wanted to have it too, but instead of asking my father about it, I decided to build one for myself. I also wondered if I will be able to use it at night, as it might disturb my neighbors, So I came up with idea of building a headphone that will give close to surround system feel. That’s when I build my 5.1ch Headphone from waste materials. I was aware of the fact that I needed something to power it externally, So I started reading about Amplifiers and all.
The other Problem Statement I needed to solve was slightly complicated than this : My group of 5 friends also used to do frequent night outs at my place, and then again to watch movie at late night speaker was our only by not best solution. I solved this problem by building a Signal Splitter, but it had drawbacks as the power output was less, and it was not configurable for each user, thus we all had to hear at same volume. Then I designed S.A.D.M.C.S which took care of all this issue and ws highly configurable for individual user volume and source control. It also solved the problem of Powering my 5.1ch Headphone.
While designing it, I also added extra features that enables user to even change the Left and Right Can balance differently.
In class 11 and 12 I was introduce to C++, and I enjoyed the experience of teaching machines how to add numbers store and manipulate data. While JEE should have been my primary focus, but to honest I never cared about cracking any entrance test what so ever, I enjoyed learning new things and in a way my love for making things always kept me distracted from my JEE preparation which I should have been doing like any other Indian Student in order to get into the prestigious and premium institution of our country, IIT.
During my +2, I learned skills like working with Arduino, and it looking at led blinking at my instructions and hardware following my command, I knew where my heart lies (although I didn’t knew college kids use the term Robotics for it).
Then someone explained me that if I go to IIT, I will get better exposure and better things to work which will allow me to make more mature projects that can help people, which is in fact true and I will always be thankful to that person for encouraging me to get into IIT.
Then I kept on doing several projects and finally joined Autonomous Ground Vehicle Research Group, where I started working with Autonomous Cars and all… but this blog is not about that, it is how I got Interested in Electronics.

I thank my uncle (Gaurav Singh), the 3 persons who encouraged me to get into IIT (Ajit Kumar, Mayank Jaiswal and Sachin Gupta) and the two treasure and constant source of inspiration and support in my life, my parents who did everything for me, always encouraged me to complete my projects no matter how stupid my idea was, never sounded me for getting things like 2 of my TV damaged in the process, traveled miles to the components I needed for my projects and never forced me for anything.
